Mission-Critical Communications Anywhere

BEN Engineering delivers end-to-end communications solutions for demanding environments where connectivity is not optional — offshore platforms, remote industrial sites, and vessels at sea. We combine field-proven digital radio systems with multi-orbit satellite technology to keep people, operations, and data connected regardless of location.

From ATEX-certified DMR radio networks on offshore rigs to Starlink-powered crew internet aboard commercial vessels, our solutions are engineered for high availability, operational resilience, and seamless integration with existing control and monitoring systems.

Always-On Connectivity

Redundant communication paths — digital radio, satellite broadband, and L-band safety services — ensuring zero communication blackout.

Certified Technology Partners

Authorized partners for Motorola Solutions, Hytera, Starlink Maritime, Inmarsat, and Speedcast satellite communications platforms.

Offshore Telecommunication — Digital Mobile Radio (DMR)

Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) is the global standard for mission-critical voice and data communications in industrial and offshore environments. BEN Engineering designs, installs, and commissions DMR radio networks that deliver crystal-clear digital voice, integrated data services, and robust safety features — engineered to ETSI TS 102 361 and certified for ATEX/IECEx hazardous areas.

We deploy DMR Tier II conventional systems for single-site operations and DMR Tier III trunked networks for large, multi-site offshore platforms and industrial complexes — with Motorola MOTOTRBO and Hytera as our primary technology platforms.

  • DMR Tier II (conventional) and Tier III (trunking) network design
  • ATEX Zone 1/2, IECEx intrinsically safe portable radios
  • Integrated GPS location tracking and lone worker protection
  • AES 256-bit encrypted voice and data transmission
  • IP gateway integration for PABX and dispatch console connectivity
DMR Offshore Radio Network

Two timeslots on a single 12.5kHz channel — doubling capacity over analog with superior voice clarity, built-in error correction, and extended battery life.

Trunked Network

DMR Tier III trunking with dynamic channel allocation, priority call, and pre-emptive emergency override — for large offshore platforms with multiple work groups.

ATEX / IECEx Certified

Intrinsically safe handportable and vehicle-mounted radios certified for Zone 1 and Zone 2 explosive atmospheres — mandatory for oil & gas offshore and petrochemical sites.

GPS & Safety Features

Real-time GPS location tracking, man-down alarm, lone worker timer, and one-button emergency call — providing personnel accountability across the entire platform.

Offshore DMR Network Design

Offshore DMR Network Design

Radio frequency (RF) coverage planning and network architecture for offshore platforms — repeater placement, antenna design, and RF link budget analysis to guarantee full-platform coverage with hot-standby redundancy.

ATEX Intrinsically Safe Radios

ATEX Intrinsically Safe Radios

Supply and integration of ATEX/IECEx Zone 1 certified portable radios — Motorola MOTOTRBO R7 EX, Hytera PD795Ex — with IP68 weatherproof housing for harsh offshore and marine environments.

DMR Tier III Trunking

DMR Tier III Trunked Systems

Capacity Maximizer and Connect Plus trunking systems for multi-site, high-traffic offshore and industrial environments — with dynamic channel allocation, queuing, and priority pre-emption for emergency calls.

GPS Tracking & Lone Worker

GPS Tracking & Lone Worker Protection

Real-time personnel tracking map with GPS-enabled radios, configurable lone worker periodic call timers, man-down tilt sensors, and one-touch emergency alert — integrated with control room safety management systems.

Data & Telemetry over DMR

Data & Telemetry over DMR

Integrated data services over DMR Timeslot 2 — text messaging, status polling, mobile worker forms, and low-bandwidth SCADA telemetry from field instruments to the control room without a separate data network.

Dispatch Console & PABX Integration

Dispatch Console & PABX Integration

IP-based radio dispatch consoles with full radio control, group call monitoring, and recording — integrated with offshore PABX telephone systems for unified voice communication across radio and telephone users.

When every second counts, communications must never fail.

ATEX-certified DMR networks — engineered for offshore platforms where analog radio and silence are not options.

Maritime Communications

Maritime Satellite Communications

Starlink Maritime Inmarsat Speedcast

Maritime communications has been transformed by multi-orbit satellite technology. BEN Engineering integrates best-in-class solutions from Starlink (LEO), Inmarsat (GEO/L-band), and managed services from Speedcast — delivering high-throughput broadband, mandatory GMDSS safety communications, and crew welfare connectivity for commercial shipping, offshore support vessels, and yachts.

A well-designed maritime communications architecture layers these technologies by purpose: Starlink for high-bandwidth operational data and crew internet, Inmarsat L-band for always-available safety services and voice, and Speedcast as the managed network layer providing SLA governance, cybersecurity, and global NOC support.

  • Starlink LEO: <40ms latency, up to 350+ Mbps, global coverage
  • Inmarsat Fleet Xpress: Ka-band VSAT with L-band safety backup
  • GMDSS / SOLAS compliance: SafetyNET, EPIRB, Inmarsat C
  • Speedcast managed services: multi-orbit NOC, SLA, cybersecurity
  • Crew welfare: broadband internet, VoIP, streaming for seafarers

<40ms Latency

Starlink LEO constellation delivers broadband with 20–40ms latency vs. 600ms+ for GEO — enabling real-time video conferencing, VoIP, and cloud applications at sea.

Fleet Xpress VSAT

Inmarsat Ka-band VSAT with automatic L-band fallback — guaranteed always-on connectivity with prioritized safety traffic regardless of weather or Ka-band outage.
